I was born on 28 October 1970 in a Pardhan (tribal) family in Sejohra, Mandla District of Madhya Pradesh.
From a humble start, I have a realistic approach, and I keep my feet on the ground. During my early education, I was a high achiever in my studies, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to leave school and start work.
At the age of ten I began painting, and when I came to Bhopal I decided to make my career as an artist and I resumed my studies.
I have been inspired and influenced by by the renowned artist Jagdish Swaminathan and I feel honoured to represent my community of tribal painters. My work is evolving from traditional tribal representation to include contemporary innovative work, and it is a reflection of the changing environment.
I have received appreciation from varied audiences, critics, media and arts aficionados across India and abroad. I have a small studio in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh where I live with my family. My wife Saroj assists me in my work.
Recently I have done a series of paintings on the theme of the Mumbai terrorist attacks in November 2008.
In November- December 2009 I am participating in an Exhibition of Pardhan Gond Painting at the New Art Exchange in Nottingham.
